Haelies represent at College of Three Ravens

College of Three Ravens was held in the Barony of Thescorre on February 22nd, 2025.

The joy of attending this event is to see fellow members of the Rhydderich Hael who are willing to travel outside of their local group to share their knowledge and research in the Arts + Sciences!!

For the 3 Ravens event this year there were three members of the Hael who took the time to put together classes for the event. The total number of classes taught by all three people was four, which was a great contribution to the event.

THL Meuric Ap Gwillim taught a class on Balms, Salves, and Ointments

The description of the class is as follows: An overview of the differences between them as well as examples of several of the most common balms, Salves, and Ointments

Mistress Beatrice de Winter taught a class on Grave Matters: The Vital Role of Medieval Corpses in History and Cultures

The description of the class is as follows: Medieval corpses were more than lifeless remains; they were powerful agents of cultural, social, and religious significance. This talk explores the vital roles that the corpse played in medieval society, from sacred relics and saintly intercessors to symbols of political authority and instruments of communal memory. By examining the role of the corpse, we will uncover how medieval societies engaged with their dead to define identity, assert power, and navigate the mysteries of mortality. Grave Matters invites us to reconsider the medieval corpse not as the end of a story but as an active participant in shaping history and culture

Baron Calebs Reynolds taught two classes on How to Identify Bad Research Sources + Pretzel Rant 2: Electric Boogaloo

The description of the classes are as follows:

There is nothing like doing your research, writing up your documentation, and entering your project into an A&S competition and then being told, by one of the judges, "Yeah, this was nice, but that book can't be trusted." So, how can we tell what's good and what's bad?

AND

The second half of the Pretzel Rant given at Æcademy, last year. This portion will focus on the made-up legends about the origins of the humble pretzel and how 19th and 20th century advertisement agencies were responsible for inventing an alternative history in order to boost sales of the world's favorite snack food.

His Excellency and I were happy to attend several of the classes and found them well - presented with lots of information and were very glad to see the classes with a great number of people in attendence!!

We wish to say to great job to THL Meuric, Baron Caleb, and Mistress Beatrice for your wonderful classes and for continuing to share your knowledge and research of subjects of the Arts + Sciences!!

We look forward to the event next year!!
